The Road to Hell is Paved with Unbought Stuffed Dogs
And Now for Something Different
Jan 6th
I was just reminded of how OSM the multiplayer in Halo 3 was/is.
Enjoy.
25 Random Things About Me
Jan 30th
If you have an account on Facebook, you’ve no doubt been accosted by several dozen of your FB friends to write a list of ‘25 Random Things’ about yourself. I finally succumbed last night and wrote up my list, and since it’s been a million years since I wrote anything here, I’m cheating and reusing it as a post. So there.
- I have finally caved to the ‘25 Random Things About Me’ peer pressure BS on Facebook.
- I plan to lie several times in this list.
- I also plan on exaggerating 3 times.
- I think that setting the thermostat @ 60 during the night is fine, unless you can’t sleep and then it is fooking freezing.
- I like to cook but almost never do it.
- I have a weakness for shiny tech-related objects.
- I still don’t know what I want to be when I grow up.
- Sometimes I’m certain that I have psychic powers.
- Sometimes I’m certain that I have no psychic powers at all.
- I am part of the most tubo-rad book club of all time.
- I believe that Facebook has an algorithm which sends you friend requests from cool people whenever it determines that you are about to delete your account.
- I once flew halfway across the United States to buy a board game.
- This item intentionally left blank.
- My friends are fantastically awesome, and I’m lucky to have them in my life.
- I am a pack rat.
- I secretly long for the zombocalypse.
- I have a twin sister, and I want to punch people in the face whenever I have to explain the “No, not identical” thing.
- I get bored watching TV shows & movies, even if I think that they are awesome.
- I believe that Pee Wee’s Big Adventure is a better movie than you remember it being.
- I believe that Taco Bell is the best worst fast food restaurant in existence.
- Living Gatsby’s life would probably be pretty sweet for a couple of months or so.
- I know that Rory secretly harbors an intense distrust of where ever it is that I go during the day.
- I have more music than I can ever realistically listen to, and I add more every week.
- I am a ginormous geek.
- I am easily distracted.
A Drive with JoCo
Jan 23rd
“A Talk With George”, one of my favorite JoCo songs came up in shuffle as I drove to work today, and I am now happy.
Enjoy yourself, do the things that matter
Cause there isn’t time and space to do it all
Love the things you try, drink a cocktail wear a tie
Show a little grace if you should fallDon’t live another day unless you make it count
There’s someone else that you’re supposed to be
There’s something deep inside of you that still wants out
And shame on you if you don’t set it free.
Here’s hoping that you have a terrific start to your day as well.
One of the Things That Terrifies Me
Jan 6th
Other drivers.
In particular, the woman I encountered this morning on the way to work who was putting on eye makeup while driving 65+ MPH on the highway.
I was unsure about what I should do. Should I speed up to pass her so that I’m in front of the fiery wreckage from her inevitable accident? Should I slow down so that she won’t rear-end me when she involuntarily accelerates to 110MPH after she stabs her self in the eye with her mascara brush-thingy?
In the end, I sped up to put as much distance between us as possible.
It should be noted that I am also a terrible driver, and that I likely scare the poo out of other drivers on the road. I imagine that other drivers feel a bit of discomfort when they witness me enjoying fondue as I drive home in the evenings. They no doubt face the speed up/slow down conundrum when trying to figure out what will happen when my deliciously crusty bread & hot cheese spill all over my lap.
Anyway, Happy Tuesday!
The Triumphant Return & Subsequent Banishment of an Xbox 360
Jan 5th
It took a little over two and a half weeks, but my 360 managed to return safely from the Xbox refurb graveyard in Texas. I immediately turned around and sold it to someone else, as I used the RRoD as an opportunity to upgrade to a 360 of the ‘Elite’ flavor.
Also, kudos to Microsoft for throwing in an extra month of Xbox Live gold service along with the refurb.
Godspeed my old friend, I shall never forget you!
Non-Sadness, Pt. 1
Speech Recognition
Jan 4th
Did you know that Windows Vista has speech recognition capability built into it?
It does!
In fact, I am using it right now. It has been a little difficult to train so far, but it might just work.
Just for fun I think that I will not use any of the correction functions for the next paragraph. It will be interesting to see what actually happens. Will the speech recognition actually follow what I’m saying? Who knows?
The session is not just a bunch of gibberish. In second. Now buy it. Area late last. I am now frustrated with speech recognition technology, and will be stopping been using a dell.
If that made sense, you are as smart as my speech recognition software in Windows Vista.
Merry Happy!
Dec 24th
Just a quick note to wish you all a happy holiday season, and a joyous new year. Cheers!
Goodbye Spongebob
Oct 20th
Ever since I moved into my house a few years back, one of the bedrooms featured a particularly garish shade of yellow that could blind you when the sun was shining on it. It was known as the “Spongebob Room” by all who visited my house, and it has become the latest casualty of my ongoing efforts to sell and move.
Pour one out of the curb, and rejoice in the memories.
